You wouldn't have to leave your GW guild but if you can't be in 2 guilds at once in DarkFall AFAIK LOL!
The monthly fee issue is important to me too. There's no way you need that much in fees it's pure profit like for WoW. I'd not have a problem paying $50-$60 for the game up front since that's like $5 a month anyways. I'd expect a year of access for that much. I think that's why GW has a good model because they keep bringing out new content and charging in a fair way (assuming chapter 2 will be good).
But if a game is very good and gives me many hours of entertainment that I don't have time to play another game I might be tempted to pay a fee. Still I'd like to see a buy once price that should be heavily discounted and gives you a year of access. $60-$80 would be OK. On the other hand if the game sucks or they don't fix problems quickly then you can just vote with your cash and leave. The other thing is some kids parents will hear about the monthly fee and either laugh their asses off or get annoyed at their kid.
Beta testing is free though

The first round of selections from clans are done so anyone who wanted to get in might get in for later stages of beta. The DarkFall staff are in charge of this procedure.
I'm not into monthly fees but I'm going to test it out during beta to see if I would pay monthly for it. So I see where you're all coming from on that point. Thanks for looking

Well said, I mean christ for $60 total I got Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, and the entire back catelog of all Valve's games playable on steam to play forever without a monthly fee. Doom 3 $50 on release, no monthly fee. BF2 $40, no monthly fee. Sure it's a fair counter price, but with no monthly fee it makes it feel like you're buying something. I don't know about you guys but when I go to the store and pick something up, I want to know that I've actually bought something. To pay the price of a game I could play for free...forever, and then go and pay monthly for it as well's just bullshit. WoW---I'd pay monthly for it if I'd had the money quite possibly, but I wouldn't pay $50 for it first.
Yay for FPS games and GW for their free online experience.

I agree with some of the majority...
First, It looks like something I could split my time with.
Will I? Probably Not. It's not because "the game is better then this game" or "It looks good"
Why Won't I? I agree like above, asking 50 dollars, then whamming you with a monthly fee..no thanks. This discourages alot of players away. I'll pay to play gladly, or one chunk fee, but both is greedy and distancing your public. Not something you want to do when you haven't been established as a good game.
Example? Everquest 1. Back in the day, the first installment costed 20ish, with a 9.99 monthly. What's it now? 60-100 for all the expansions and 14 bucks a month. Why? They established themselves enough to able to do this without it hurting them.
Give us a free run at this game, and then maybe I'll pay a chunk/or pay to play. In the meanwhile, you guys should check out http://www.ProjectEntropia.com <---Nice game. I played it for ages upon ages before getting GW. So intricate, and uses real world currency. 1 US dollar = 10 in game dollars. They also allow you to switch your money backll tell you, mining/exploring/crafting is hellafun. Free except the fact of donations. You don't nescessarily have to "deposit" to have fun, but it sure helps. You can do it if your determined. I walked away from the game after I hit a 10,000 PED deposit, switched into 989 real life dollars. Not too shabby when I>
